Constellations - Web Quest
Essential Question: What can we learn from the night sky? Objective: I can describe the appearance and apparent motion of groups of stars in the night sky relative to Earth and how various cultures have understood and used them. Overview "The Constellations" is a website that features eighty-eight different constellations found in our night sky. They are classified in three main categories based on which hemisphere they appear in. Most constellations were named after characters in Greek and Roman myths. Myths are traditional stories about the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events. Most myths were handed down orally or told aloud by designated story tellers. Myths have been passed down through cultures long before humans discovered the art of the written word. |
